Andy Warhol. Triple Elvis on Show in Naples: An Event Not to be Missed
Naples hosts an unmissable event for lovers of contemporary art and pop art. From 25 September 2024 to 16 February 2025 , the Gallerie d’Italia will host the exhibition “Andy Warhol. Triple Elvis” , an extraordinary exhibition that brings together for the first time some of the artist’s most iconic graphic cycles: Marilyn , Mao Tse-Tung and Electric Chairs , together with the famous work Triple Elvis .
A Journey into Warhol’s Art: Masterpieces and Contaminations
The exhibition is a unique opportunity to admire a selection of works from the prestigious Luigi and Peppino Agrati Collection , one of the most important contemporary art collections in Italy, created between the 1960s and 1980s and now part of the heritage of Intesa Sanpaolo thanks to the legacy of Luigi Agrati. Curated by Luca Massimo Barbero as part of the Vitality of Time project, the exhibition offers a new interpretation of the genius of Andy Warhol , immersing the public in his revolutionary artistic visions.
The Protagonists of the Exhibition
Triple Elvis
The centerpiece of the exhibition is Triple Elvis , an emblematic work from 1963, in which Warhol explores for the first time the serial repetition of the image. Dedicated to Elvis Presley , this creation celebrates the allure of cultural icons, anticipating the phenomenon of global celebrity.
Marilyn, Mao Tse-Tung and Electric Chairs
Alongside “Triple Elvis”, the exhibition presents three of the artist’s most famous graphic cycles:
- Marilyn , a tribute to the eternal charm of Marilyn Monroe .
- Mao Tse-Tung , who translates political power into pop art.
- Electric Chairs , a work that invites reflection on profound and controversial themes.
An Intimate Portrait and the Connection with Naples
Among the gems of the exhibition, a portrait of Warhol signed by the American photographer Duane Michals stands out, a poetic image that plays with the concept of presence and absence. Completing the exhibition are the two Vesuvius from the Intesa Sanpaolo collection, symbols of the artist’s deep bond with Naples, also consolidated thanks to the gallery owner Lucio Amelio .
An Event to Mark in Your Diary
“Andy Warhol. Triple Elvis” is not just an exhibition: it is a journey into the creative universe of one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, among icons, colors and provocations. Naples thus becomes the meeting point between pop art and tradition, in a celebration that unites international culture and local roots.
