Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni
From the 1,742 meters of Monte Panormo to the sea, Cilento knows how to enchant and surprise at every step. The coast is, of course, the part that attracts the most with its clear waters and the alternation of sandy beaches and pebbles that lend themselves well to relaxation and water sports. The quiet villages, still guardians of maritime traditions, are particularly suitable for family tourism even if there are opportunities for nightlife.
Moving inland we find beautiful villages such as Vetolla, whose castle hosted Giambattista Vico, or Casaletto Spartano where you can admire the wonderful waterfall called the Capelli di Venere. And even WWF oases, such as that of the Bussento caves in Morigerati, trekking routes on the Alburni, the Campania Dolomites, and ancient popular festivals such as the Palio del Grano in Caselle in Pittari.
Finally, the Vallo di Diano, a plateau located about 450 meters above sea level, beyond the Alburni on the border with Basilicata. Here, in the municipality of Padula, stands the Certosa di San Lorenzo, the largest charterhouse in Italy and one of the largest in Europe, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998, and, in the municipality of Pertosa, you can enter the suggestive caves of Pertosa-Auletta.
