Campania without barriers
Although classifying places, attractions, events and itineraries on the basis of accessibility is not an easy task, visitcampania.info pays close attention to the tourist enjoyment of people with special needs as he believes that everyone has the right to travel and enjoy the extraordinary beauty that the Campania region can offer.
First of all, in assessing accessibility to places/events, visitcampania.info refers to four types of disabilities, whether permanent or temporary, or related to health or age:
- physical disabilities mainly related to motor deficits supported by technical aids such as crutches and wheelchairs;
- sensory disabilities mainly related to visual and/or auditory limitations;
- mental and mental disabilities related, predominantly, to situations falling on the autism spectrum;
- other disabilities related to food allergies and intolerances and the need for constant care and therapy (dialysis and the like);
Defined the types of disability and with reference to the Legislative definition of accessibility contained in the D.M. 236 of 1989 in which it is defined as: “the possibility, even for people with reduced or impeded motor or sensory capacity, to reach the building and its individual real estate and environmental units, to enter it easily and to use spaces and equipment in conditions of adequate safety and autonomy”, visitcampania.info undertakes to evaluate and classify places and events within the framework set out above.
In practice, places and events are evaluated according to the following aspects:
- availability of clear, up-to-date and findable information ;
- accessibility and usability of the spaces independently, safety and comfort also with reference to the presence of personnel and auxiliary devices;
- absence of situations that can generate anxiety;
- presence of health facilities and / or availability of medical personnel;
The final evaluation is expressed in two distinct and complementary ways:
- a summary indicator assigned to each location, attraction, event and itinerary
- Easily accessible, if there is a positive evaluation of all the aspects mentioned above;
- Moderately accessible, if, even in the presence of critical and not fully satisfactory points, the overall accessibility is evaluated, however, sufficient;
- Not accessible, if the criticalities detected, relating to one or more of the aspects being evaluated, are such as not to make the place / event usable independently or in a sufficiently safe and comfortable way;
- an analytical text “Details on accessibility” in which precise information is provided on the aspects being evaluated with highlighting the critical aspects;
In this section you will only find locations, attractions, events and itineraries that have obtained a synthetic evaluation equal to Medium accessible or Easily accessible in order to help you plan and organize your next trip. There is a Campania without barriers waiting for you.
