The Genius of Arte Povera
Michelangelo Pistoletto, born in Biella in 1933, is one of the greatest protagonists of Italian contemporary art . His career took off in the 1960s with the famous ” Mirror Paintings “, works that merge art and reflection, transforming the viewer into an integral part of the work itself. This innovation earned him international success. In the 1960s, Pistoletto contributed to the birth of Arte Povera , an artistic movement that valorized simple and everyday materials. With works such as ” Minus Objects “, he broke the boundaries of traditional art, exploring new ways of creating and interacting. In the following years, he expanded the concept of art as a tool for social change, giving life to initiatives such as Cittadellarte and the ” Third Paradise ” project , a collective work that invites dialogue between nature, technology and society. Pistoletto has always looked to the future. In 2023 he introduced the concept of “metawork”, using modern technologies such as QR code and artificial intelligence to redefine the relationship between art and the public. With prestigious awards such as the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale and the Praemium Imperiale , Pistoletto continues to inspire with his visionary art, now exhibited in the major museums of the world.
