Niccolò Jommelli ’s “Cantata per la Gran Madre di Dio” celebrates the fusion between past and present, mixing baroque and modern elements to tell the story of the “Birth” and the “Re-birth” through music and popular culture.
The program includes:
- Jommelli’s baroque cantata.
- Traditional stories from the “Poor Man’s Bible”.
- South American melodies and contemporary prose by Peppe Lanzetta.
Protagonists on stage: Mariagrazia Schiavo, Candida Guida, Francesco Marsiglia, Peppe Lanzetta and other performers, with the Orchestra Discantus conducted by Luigi Grima and directed by Mariano Bauduin.
